Background
The Transfiguration of Christ Parish is relatively a new parish in the Diocese of Antipolo, having been canonically erected on December 12, 2002. The parish church is located along M.L. Quezon Street Extension, Brgy. San Roque, Antipolo City.
The parish was canonically erected on December 12, 2002 through an episcopal Decree promulgated by the Most Reverend Jesse Mercado, D. D., then Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Antipolo. The geographical area covered by the parish is extensive - it includes the whole stretch of M.L. Quezon Street Extension (from the SSS Building - Antipolo to the Antipolo-Angono Boundary) and some areas of Binangonan and Teresa.
At present these areas have an estimated population of 96,000. (76,000 of which are Catholics)
Since its establishment, the parish has steadily moved towards the building up of the community committed to programs of integral evangelization and formation, especially through the Basic Ecclesial Community (Munting Sambayanang Kristiyano) program.Despite the usual birth pains experienced by newly established parishes, the parishioners of the Transfiguration of Christ continues to meet challenges with the spirit and Gospel values which they now hold on to as core values of the parish community - faith, communion and diligent stewardship.
